Types of Massages

Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a form of very light massage that encourages lymph flow throughout the body. This technique relaxes the nervous system, helps increase the body’s immune system, and redirects the lymph fluid around any blockages. It is particularly good for post-surgical recovery (e.g. oncology, plastic surgery, etc.), edema and inflammation reduction, pain control, infection prevention, autoimmune disorders, pre- and post-birth delivery, Lyme disease and more.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage helps relieve pain, reduce stress, and work on a specific problem addressing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms. It utilizes a combination of modalities such as Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Compression, and PNF Stretches (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation).

This massage is beneficial for anyone with issues such as headaches, low back pain, tight neck and shoulders, sciatic pain, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, TMJ, carpal tunnel, and so much more.

Oncology Massage

Oncology massage is not a technique. It is a comprehensive approach that involves thorough assessment and adjustments made to standard massage modalities.  It can change the way it feels to live with a serious illness by:

  • Reducing pain
  • Alleviating stress
  • Relieving nausea
  • Reducing depression and anxiety
  • Improving sleep and lessening fatigue
  • Preventing chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
  • Relieving lymphedema

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a firm pressure massage that specifically focuses on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance.  It does this through a combination of techniques including facilitated stretching to help loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

Though it’s called Sports Massage, you don’t have to be an athlete to get one. Anyone who is active can benefit from this modality.

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy can be a period of extreme physical discomfort and changes for a woman. Massage therapy during pregnancy is a healthy and wonderful way to reduce stress, enhance function of muscles and joints, improve circulation and promote overall wellness.

Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and swelling.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage is helpful to calm down the nervous system, to relieve stress and to promote a sense of overall well-being. The benefits for the health are substantial including improved blood circulation and stimulation of the lymphatic system which is responsible for carrying away waste products. It is also known to help with insomnia, and to promote emotional balance and clarity of mind.

Light or medium pressure is typically used. Adjustments can be made according to your preferences.
